Overview
Good cores start with good sand
Resin coated sand (RCS) is the raw material for hot box / shell cores. If the sand varies, the cores vary — and so do the castings. That is why we make our own.
Our cyclone-type, high-efficiency RCS plant produces silica-based resin coated sand — the main grade used for automotive casting cores. It feeds our own core shop and is also supplied to other foundries and core makers.
Because the sand is ours, there is no outside supplier to wait on and no quality excuse to hide behind.
Tested every batch
What we check — and why it matters
Raw sand AFS and moisture are checked before entering the plant; resin and catalyst batches are checked against spec before use.
| LOI — Loss on Ignition | Confirms resin content in each batch |
|---|---|
| Hot Tensile Strength (HTS) | Core strength at pouring temperature |
| AFS Grain Fineness | Controls the surface finish of the casting |
| Gas Content | Prevents gas defects in the casting |
| Scratch Hardness | Protects the core surface during handling |
